Representatives of the Government of Abkhazia Paid Tribute to the Memory of the Servicemen Fallen in WWII

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Georgia, accompanied by the members of the government of Abkhazia, deputies of the Supreme Council, and representatives of the Union of Warriors of Abkhazia, laid a wreath of garland at the bust monument of Meliton Kantaria in the Veterans Culture and Recreation Park and paid tribute to the memory of those who died in the Second World War (WWII) on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the victory over fascism.

The Prime Minister of Georgia was accompanied to the Veterans Culture and Recreation Park by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia and the Mayor of Tbilisi.

Ruslan Abashidze Attended Easter Divine Liturgy

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia attended the Easter Divine Liturgy at the Sioni Cathedral.

The Divine Liturgy was served by His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All-Georgia Ilia II together with Patriarchal Locum Tenens/Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku.

Before the ceremony began, the congregation gathered at the Sioni Cathedral heard the Patriarch of Georgia's Easter Epistle.

The President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of Georgia were present at the Sioni Cathedral.

Easter Gifts were Presented to the Children's Orphanage with the assistance of the Government of Abkhazia

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and Besik Silagadze, Director of the Center of Spirituality, visited the orphanage -'' Kidevac Daizrdebian'' under the patronage of the Georgian Patriarchate. The chairman of the Government congratulated the children on Easter and presented food and gifts to orphans.

The Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia supported the event, which was organized by the Center of Spirituality.

The Representatives of the Government of Abkhazia Held Meetings in Guangzhou

During their working visit to China, representatives of the government of Abkhazia met with members of the Guangzhou municipal government and the vice-president of the entrepreneurs' association.

Anzor Margiani, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Levan Tevzaia, Minister of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jincharadze, Deputy Minister, Vasil Babunashvili, Head of the "Economic Programs Agency" of the Ministry and Gogita Tedoradze, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, participate in the meetings.

At the meeting, the Chinese side expressed a willingness to visit Georgia and learn about the situation on the ground.

Government officials also inspected many of Guangzhou's most powerful light industries.

The Representatives of the Government of Abkhazia Held a Meeting in Guangdong Province

Within the framework of a working visit to China, representatives of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia met with the management of Guangdong's largest shopping center.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the potential for future cooperation to assist IDP entrepreneurs from Abkhazia in direction of investment.

Ruslan Abashidze Presented Easter Gifts to IDP Families from Abkhazia

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and Guram Misabishvili, First Deputy Minister of IDPs of Abkhazia, paid visits to Abkhazian IDP families living in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region during the glorious Easter holiday. The chairman of the government wished the IDPs in Zugdidi, Senaki, and Potskhoetseri a happy Easter and presented them with an Easter gift.

Today, Ruslan Abashidze and representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia inspected the infrastructure works completed in the village of Nojikhevi, Khobi Municipality, as part of the Ministry's infrastructure program.

Representatives of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and local authorities participated in the events.

Every year, the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia organizes a charity event in honor of the Easter holiday, during which food products are distributed to IDP families from Abkhazia.

Officials of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia are in China for a Working Visit

Anzor Margiani, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, is now in the People's Republic of China for a working visit together with the representatives of the government of Abkhazia.

Within the framework of the visit, Beka Mikaberidze, the founder of One Belt One Road Georgian Business House and a representative of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce in Guangzhou, was the first person with whom the visit was held.

The discussion covered possible paths for deepening economic relationships, supporting IDP entrepreneurs from Abkhazia, attracting Chinese investment, and creating joint partnerships.

The sides acknowledged that developing cooperation between countries will help to advance trade, foster economic links, and promote business owners.

The head of the Georgian business house arranges the meetings that are scheduled as part of the working visit to China.

The business house's primary goal is to foster trade and commercial ties and bring all the countries of the New Silk Road together on one common platform.

The Entrepreneurs were Granted the Inventory Required for their Business with the Assistance of the Government of Abkhazia

The participants of the project - "Material assistance of business initiatives of IDPs of Khoni Municipality - "Sewing House" and "Beauty House"" were granted the required inventory for their activities with the assistance of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, presented the competition winners with the essential equipment for business activities. IDPs from Abkhazia are employed in "Sewing House" and "House of Beauty."

Medical Checkups for IDPs from Abkhazia Living in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region

Free medical examinations were provided to IDPs in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, at the Rukhi Republican Hospital with the support of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the organization of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

Within the framework of the event, IDP population from Abkhazia were consulted by up to ten highly qualified doctors, and various types of diagnostic examinations were performed. Also, depending on the purpose, the necessary medicines were prescribed to the IDP beneficiaries of the program.

Ruslan Abashidze Met with the Ambassador of Finland to the South Caucasus

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, met with H.E. Kirsti Narinen, the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the South Caucasus.

The Chairman of the Government informed Finnish Ambassador about the activities of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and introduced the situation on the occupied territory of Abkhazia.

The Ambassador of Finland once again reaffirmed Finland’s strong support for the non-recognition of the occupied territories of Georgia and its territorial integrity policy.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of future cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Harri Paldanius, Finnish Defence Attaché to Türkiye and David Gakharia, Head of the Department of Strategic Communications and International Relations of the Staff of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

On April 10, 2024, a Session of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia was Held

Today, a session of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia was held. The meeting was led by Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

The Chairman of the Government responded to the historic decision of the Strasbourg international court at the session on the so-called "Continuous Occupation Case" and noted that Georgia won another significant legal triumph in the international arena regarding the occupied territories.

"In the international arena, Georgia achieved another significant legal victory. The Strasbourg Court's decision is a legal evaluation of the actions taken by Russia on the occupied territory of Abkhazia. It affirms that human rights to property, freedom of movement, and life, liberty, and security are frequently violated under Russian occupation. In terms of defending the IDP community's legal rights, reestablishing justice, and restoring territorial integrity via the use of international legal mechanisms, this decision represents a significant accomplishment. "I am confident that the occupation of our country will undoubtedly come to an end with the international community's involvement and the government's peaceful and consistent policy," - stated Ruslan Abashidze.

During the sitting the members of the government discussed the draft legislation of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia titled "On the 2024 Republican Budget of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia" regarding the introduction of amendments and additions to the law of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, also the draft resolution of the Government of Abkhazia titled "On the Reorganization of the Legal Entity of Public Law - "Programs and Services Agency" and the creation of the Legal Entity of Public Law - "Economic Programs Agency" on its basis".

The members of the government heard information about the initiatives planned for 2024 by the Information Analytical Center of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia in the format of the session and also discussed the other current issues that were on the agenda.

Representatives of the Government of Abkhazia Honored the Memory of those Who Died on April 9

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, together with the members of the government of Abkhazia, laid a wreath at the memorial of the victims during the tragic events of April 9, 1989, at Rustaveli Avenue and honored to their memory.

Georgian Prime Minister, Executive and Legislative Authorities were present at the memorial.

Patriarchal Locum Tenens Shio, Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, served a memorial service for the repose of those fallen on April 9.

Thirty-five years have passed since the tragic events of April 9 the peaceful demonstration of several thousand participants supporting the independence of Georgia was violently dispersed. As a consequence, 21 people were killed on Rustaveli Avenue, with hundreds wounded, maimed, and poisoned.

Ruslan Abashidze Participated in the 60th Round of Geneva International Discussions

On April 4-5, 2024 the 60th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) was held in Geneva. Lasha Darsalia, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, led the Georgian delegation. Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia participated in the meetings of the working group.

The main points of discussion for the Georgian delegation included the need to implement the cease-fire agreement that Russia signed on August 12, 2008, under EU mediation, and the return of refugees and internally displaced people from the occupied territories.

The Georgian delegation highlighted throughout the discussions on the challenging circumstances that have been created for security, humanitarian aid, and human rights in the occupied regions, as well as on specific destructive acts that have made the situation even more difficult on the ground.

The representatives of the occupation regime left the negotiations while discussing one of the issues on the agenda - the return of IDPs and refugees from the occupied territories to their homes.

Regretfully, no significant negotiating topic could be resolved during this round of talks.

The Geneva International Discussions (GID) were launched on the basis of the 12 August 2008 Ceasefire Agreement. The main topics of the GID are the implementation of the EU-mediated 12 August 2008 Ceasefire Agreement, and the safe and dignified return of IDPs and refugees to their homes, as well as security and humanitarian problems stemming from Russian occupation.

The discussions are held with the Co-Chairmanship of the EU, UN, and OSCE, and the participation of Georgia, the Russian Federation, and the USA. The Head of the Provisional Administration of the former South Ossetian Autonomous District and the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, as well as the representatives of the Russian occupation regime in Sokhumi and Tskhinvali also attend the Working Groups.

The next round GID is scheduled for 25-26 June, 2024.

Deputy Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia Attended the Performance Report by the Anti-Corruption Bureau

Performance Report of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Georgia for 2023 was presented by Razhden Kuprashvili, Head, at the Palace of State ceremonies. Anzor Margiani, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia attended the event.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze delivered a speech during the Anti-Corruption Bureau Performance Report event.

Adherence to the accountability and transparency of governance towards the general public and maximum engagement of the society in the decision-making process is one of our main priorities. It was announced by Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia when delivering a keynote speech at the presentation of a Performance Report by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Georgia today.

As the Head of Government stated, several substantial steps have been made forward, including a decision made by the Government to publish every Decree, which is, in essence, a sign of accountability towards the general public.

Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about the international ratings evidencing a positive stance of the country with the least corruption and stated that nonetheless, authorities do not stay content.

„I announced our ambitious task to position ourselves in the Top 3 of Europe with the least corruption. Of course, we understand that it is quite an ambitious goal, though with a political will being present, as is the case in Georgia, it is quite plausible and everything and anything will be done towards this end" added the Prime Minister.

The event was attended by officials of the executive and legislative authorities of the country, the Mayor of Tbilisi, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, and diplomatic corps.

Reburied Soldiers from Abkhazia were Buried at the Brothers’ Cemetery in Digomi

Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, attended the funeral ceremony of the soldiers fallen during the tragic events in Abkhazia in the 90-ies.

The President of Georgia, Prime Minister of Georgia, Speaker of Parliament, State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, and representatives of Georgian legislative and executive authorities attended a civil funeral service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. They, once again, expressed their condolences to the families and paid tribute to the memory of the fallen soldiers.

The civil funeral service lasted for two days at the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Today, the remains of five soldiers were buried with military honors at the Brothers’ Cemetery in Digomi. Anzor Margiani, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, attended the funeral ceremony.

The Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the International Committee of Red Cross, within the scope of the Georgian-Abkhazian bilateral coordination mechanism, organized the reburial process of 12 identified bodies of persons (9 military personnel; 3 civilians) who died during the tragic events in Abkhazia in the 90’s.

It should be mentioned that the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia has decided to provide material assistance to the families of the five IDPs who perished during the tragic events in Abkhazia in the 1990s.
